At room temperature, EDTMPA is a white crystalline powder with a melting point of 215–217°C. It is slightly soluble in water, with a solubility of less than 5% at room temperature, but readily soluble in ammonia solution.

In the electronics industry, it can be used as a cleaning agent for semiconductor chips in the manufacture of integrated circuits; in the pharmaceutical industry, it serves as a carrier for radioactive elements in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
